Vignette of two mythic figures flanking a small portrait of George Washington and a smaller vignette of mine workers and a train at top. Vignette of a mineworkers and a horse drawn cart entering a mine. Ornate border at left and right. Printed on thin paper and pen cancelled. Very Fine. Incorporated in 1839, The Williams Valley Railroad & Mining Company, funded by an original issue of only one thousand shares, was established with the intention of transporting goods from the head of the Williams Valley through Pennsylvania’s Dauphin and Schuylkill counties to what its charter referred to only as “navigable waters.”
